To me goodness is all about searching for the positive in myself, in others and in every day situations.
What does goodness mean to you?
To me goodness is all about searching for the positive in myself, in others and in every day situations. It is so easy to knit pick at our flaws and see all the things that are wrong in the world, but extremely difficult for us to notice and appreciate the good. For example, I have spent years pinching my love handles in the mirror EVERY SINGLE MORNING. Not thanking the Universe that my body was capable of producing 2 amazing children, not that I am strong and capable of working out at the gym, not that I am loved by many many family members - I woke up and obsessed about the love handles! Now, I cannot imagine doing something so self destructive first thing in the morning- Instead, I will wake up and either recite one or two of my favorite affirmations or just look in the mirror and no matter what I see will say, “You look good.” Telling yourself how good you are is the easiest way to start the domino effect of goodness each day!

One of the many affirmations shared by Michelle on Instagram
I wear a lot of different hats in my career but first and foremost I consider myself a CMO,  a Chief Motivating Officer...
Where do you find goodness?
I am so fortunate to have created a career where goodness surrounds me! I wear a lot of different hats in my career but first and foremost I consider myself a CMO,  a Chief Motivating Officer (I totally made this up, but shouldn't it be a thing?) I motivate my family, friends and clients that they can take charge of their own wellness! I give out tips, recipes and advice to tons of people and, in return, goodness just finds me- in every client that tells me they are feeling the best they ever felt in their life, in every parent that runs up to me to tell me their child tried a new healthy food and loved it and in every Instagram comment of people all over the globe trying my recipes and enjoying them! While many times it seems like I am working on people’s food and nutrition, I am also secretly trying to get  the world to eat healthy food they enjoy and, more importantly, live a life of positivity and happiness.

"I was organizing my kids' closet and making them try on clothes to see what fit. As I was telling them how pretty they look, my oldest daughter said, "but mom, it doesn't matter what we wear anyway. We would be beautiful even in ugly clothes- right?" I answered: "yes honey, it is not what you wear but who you are that makes you beautiful." Why are certain things so easy for kids to understand, yet so tough for us grown ups who are always trying to reach some impossible ideal of beauty!? For always reminding me what's truly important, whenever I am with my daughters, I am with goodness" - Miichelle
What are some ways that we can become aware of the goodness in our lives?
I think goodness really shows itself when we are more present and are doing our days WAY MORE SLOWLY. For example, I invented this idea of 5-10-15 that I always encourage my clients to try. Spend 5 minutes concentrating on breakfast- enjoying the flavors, giving gratitude to a higher power for giving us nourishing food and acknowledging that we have a body that can be used to do good with. Then spend 10 minutes during lunch and 15 minutes at dinner. Even I am not able to accomplish this every day but I sure try! This has helped me appreciate so many things that I would otherwise take for granted! I also take a lot of photos of inspiring things- leaves, squirrels, sunsets- anything that reminds me of the world’s beauty.

How do you help others focus on the goodness in their lives?
Its funny how my job goes way beyond food in order to get people to focus on goodness! So often I like to delicately remind clients of the bigger picture! For example, many new moms will come to me looking for advice on how to lose their baby weight. I will immediately ask them how their baby is and ask to see a picture! Of course everyone wants to look good, but I like to reframe the conversation to make them happy to talk about what the baby is doing, who the baby resembles and way more exciting things than those extra few baby pounds!
